CLIFTON-UPON-TEME  Womens Institute, W.I., is a vibrant group of women who meet once a month, on the third Tuesday of the month, to enjoy a variety of speakers from in and around the area. Meeting in the comfort of the Village Hall, they enjoy a talk, then social time over a cup of coffee, with extra time to chat to the speaker. Talks can be as varied as local charities, travel slide shows, health issues and current affairs. A thriving cookery club meets monthly in members’ homes.

The W.I. was initially set up to educate women in isolated communities. The main aim is still the same, the education of women, be it in the home, in the workplace or enjoying retirement. It is a great way of meeting and making friends from all walks of life. Guests are welcome.

They always provoke lively debates, led by well-informed members, and voted on at the end of the discussions.

Many other activities are organised both locally and with the Federation of Worcestershire, and also with the W.I's college at Denman in Oxfordshire. Bursaries from the local group are available.
