Clifton Wanderers

The Clifton Wanderers walking group was started in September 1999 by Lyn and Gerald Emery together with friends in the village. Lyn and Gerald had helped with the local walks booklet produced by Derek Leavey as part of the Parish Paths Scheme and thought it would be nice to extend this furtherWalkers with a village-based walking group.

The group meets on alternate Fridays starting at 9.30a.m. (unless notified otherwise), usually finishing in time for a pub lunch. Walks are circular and between 5 and 6 miles in length and are generally either from Clifton or within a 10 mile radius, although occasionally longer walks in the Cotswolds and elsewhere are also undertaken.

At present the average number walking is between 8 and 12 and although we like to keep up a fairly brisk pace there is always time to stop and enjoy the local countryside and places of interest that we pass. We hope to help with the maintenance of the footpaths in the Walks around Clifton booklet:
