The original
school building in the village dates from 1844 when it was the National
School 'for the education of the children of the parishes of Clifton
and Sapey Pritchard'
Today, some 60
pupils attend Clifton-upon-Teme Primary School, aged from four
to eleven years, arranged in three classes. In addition to Debbie
Mitchell, head-teacher for the past ten years, there are two other
full-time teaching members of staff, Sarah Wilkins and Karen Driver,
and a part-time teacher, Bob Percival. Other members of staff include
school secretary Brigette Manton, lunchtime supervisors Daphne Robson
and Sue Williams who, with Sally Wakefield, also assists in the classroom;
and caretaker Margaret Butler.

The ten School
Governors have close ties with the village. Chairman is Pamela
Wojciechowski and vice-chairman Chris Cale. Other governors include
Bunty Crump, Hilary Higton, Diane Richards, Mark Fletcher, head-teacher
Debbie Mitchell and Sarah Wilkins, a member of the teaching staff.
The Friends
of Clifton-upon-Teme Primary School are a group of hard-working
parents, teachers and governors who organise fund-raising events in
aid of the school.
