Lower
Sapey Parish

Old Saint Batholomew's
church at Lower Sapey is a rare example of an almost unchanged rustic
Norman church modified from time to time over the centuries. There
is mention of a priest there in the Domesday Book. Evidence of an
even earlier church on the site has recently been discovered. The
present building was replaced by a a new church at nearby Harpley
in 1876. Restoration work has been supported by the setting up of
a trust - The Friends of Old St. Bartholomew's
