Lion Inn

A traditional 12th century village inn opposite the village green in Clifton-upon-Teme, one of the most picturesque villages in Worcestershire, the Lion Inn offers real hospitality, real ales and a really appetising menu as well as comfortable accommodation.

Alan and Linda extend a special welcome to all their customers, local and from further afield.

A number of changes have taken place at the Lion due to recent events such as the change in licensing laws, takeover of ownership by the Punch group, downturn in custom and the decline of the pub trade in general.

Firstly, the opening times have changed to the following:
Monday to Thursday 12:00 to 15:00 & 18:00 to Midnight
Friday and Saturday 11:00 to 15:00 & 17:00 to 01:00
Sunday 12:00 to 23:30

A new and simplified menu is available for bar meals and take-away with options such as home made chilli, chicken curry and steak & kidney pie, with prices varying up to £7.50. Meals will be served from 12:00 to 14:00 and 18:00 to 21:00 Monday to Saturday. Sunday roasts are available if booked in advance, no food available on Sunday evenings.

Alan and Linda are applying all their efforts to provide a resting place that caters for all tastes and the New Year will see a number of events and ongoing activities in the Lion. Despite some disappointing attendances in at past events music will return to the pub with an artist/group appearing at least once a month, and we will endeavour to cater for the variety of musical tastes.

Traditional pub games, Darts (Monday), Cribbage (Wednesday) are already available and pub teams are up and running throughout the Winter and Spring months. In addition we now have a pool table for all you budding Gareth Potts or Emma Cunningham out there. And for those who instantly recognise these names we will continue to welcome you all to our regular Pub Quizzes in aid of local charities. Please remember, as with other facilities within in our community your local can only continue to be available to you if you use or support the facility. Or in the words which have been used so regularly … use it or you may lose it. Alan and Linda look forward to welcoming you at the Lion.
