Clifton Village Hall

News Update (March 2010)

Events

On Saturday 8th May there will be a special live performance of the Harald Haugaard Quartet in concert with Danish singer Helene Blum.

Harald Haugaard is an internationally acclaimed fiddler and one of the most sensational musicians on the Danish music scene. With his characteristic style of playing, - playful, light and elegant but also dramatic, melancholic and sometimes diabolic - he offers contemporary Danish folk music deeply rooted in tradition. As a fiddle player, Haugaard is a magnificent, inventive virtuoso and passionate musician. An engaging performer of wonderful music that is full of life, he combines huge enthusiasm with an intense fiddle sound, he is "the master of sublime moments" (American music magazine, Dirty Linen).

Harald presents his new Trio (three technically and musically highly skilled musicians), gathering upcoming Danish guitarist Rasmus Zeeberg and old mate from folkfusion band Serras, percussionist Sune Rahbek, in a vibrant and virtuous combination. The Trio performs with great presence in the delicate blend of old traditional Danish dance tunes and Haugaard's beautiful compositions with his rash improvisations.

For this special tour, the band will be joined by fantastic Danish singer Helene Blum.

Tickets cost £10 (concessions £9) and the performance starts at 7.30pm. Bring your own drinks (glasses available). Tickets available from Pat Bradley (812313).
